Artist's Description
This black and white landscape tells the story of man attempting to make their mark on the vast and wild tundra of Alaska by laying train tracks through the mountains and waters of this glorious state. The tracks parallel the Seward Highway for about 50 miles which is arguably the most beautiful stretch of road in North America. Following the Turnagain Arm you're met with towering mountains on one side of the road and flat open waters on the other. Tourists can catch a magnificent train ride teeming with gorgeous scenery and if they're lucky, catch glimpses of whales, mountain goats, eagles and all sorts of other wildlife. Located just South of Anchorage, Alaska, it is an absolute must see for those who dare to travel and explore the 49th State. Originally completed almost 100 years ago in the year of 1923, I'd be willing to bet this railroad, and these mountains, will still be around a hundred years from now.
About Shannon Williams
Hey there! Welcome to my Gallery. I'm originally from Portland, Oregon, and am currently traveling North America capturing landscapes and cityscapes across the country. I picked up a camera before moving to Alaska where I honed my photography skills using the stunning mountains and rivers of the vast, wild tundra as my classroom.
