Description
The Anza-Borrego Desert State Park was unlike any place I'd ever seen before. Sprawling lands of sand, rock, mountains and unfamiliar plants; not a soul in sight. We drove out to Ghost Mountain in our RV, a questionable road trip to say the least, to hike the Marshal South Home Trail. An abandoned homestead is located at the top of the mountain. My husband and I have always been drawn to the idea of homesteading, but we always envisioned our fantasy in the Alaska wilderness - a stark contrast to the California Desert. After hiking to the top, I understood why someone would want to build a homestead here. The views of the mountains and the rocky terrain that seemed to go on forever, would be well worth waking up to every morning.
