Description
Muncho Lake is a magical place. It's located along the Alaska Highway in British Columbia, Canada. I've had the pleasure of seeing it twice. The first time was five years ago traveling North. My husband and I stopped to camp for a few days and hike the area. We were taken aback by the jade green color of the lake, so vibrant it seemed like that out of a picture book. We learned that the color was due to the copper oxide leaching from the bedrocks beneath the water. I took this photograph 5 years later as we traversed South down the Alaska Highway. I was awestruck as the color was a deep sapphire blue on this dark and cloudy day. The scene was a fitting mood as we were having engine troubles and had to travel right on through. But that didn't stop me from pulling over for a quick minute to take in the beauty and capture the incredible landscape.
